PLEASANT VIEW - Danny D. Dayton, 61, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and friend passed away suddenly Thursday, July 9, 2009 of a heart attack. Danny was born November 1, 1947 to Dee D. Dayton and Betty LaMae Woodland Dayton. Danny was a fantastic baseball player, hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed camping with his family and grandkids, whom he adored.

Danny was a hard worker every day of his life as the owner of Dayton Construction, but was never too busy to help anyone who crossed his path. Danny had a great testimony of temple work, a testimony he lived by never missing a week's attendance for the last eight years. He also loved the Book of Mormon and shared it with everyone he met. 

Danny married Joyce Straszewski November 11, 1966. They later divorced. Danny married the love of his life, Colette Campbell, on June 18, 1976. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple, becoming sweethearts for eternity. Danny was the proud father of six children; Dirk Dayton, Dusty (Robert) Tockstein, Darin (April) Dayton, Amber (Joseph) Dunn, Dustin Dayton and Heather (Arthur) Bingham.

Danny was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings and positions, most recently as a service missionary with his sweet wife in the Sullivan Hollow First Ward. Danny loved his calling as a missionary and continues that work today.

Danny is survived by his wife, children, 12 grandchildren plus one on the way, his mother, sister Michelle (Phillip) Davis, and brothers Dennis Dayton and Darwin (Deana) Dayton. He was preceded in death by his father and brothers David and Douglas Dayton. He will be greatly missed because he was greatly loved. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Pleasant View Stake Center, 2975 N. 1000 W., Pleasant View. Friends may call at the church on Monday, July 13th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Ben Lomond Cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Ogden. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
