ST. GEORGE – Kay McBride, 61, died
November 15, 2008 in St. George, Utah. She was born November 19, 1946 to Elgin Jay Harbertson
and LaDora May Sparks Harbertson in Ogden, Utah.
Kay lived in Ogden during her school years where she grew up on 8th
Street. Kay graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1965 and Weber State College in 1969 where she
earned a degree as a registered nurse. She married Gilbert Ray Hancey in 1966. in 1970 they moved
to Cedar City where they raised their four children. Kay and Ray later divorced. In 1993 Kay moved
to St. George where she met Vern McBride. They married in 1999 and spent seven happy years
together. Vern preceded her in death in 2006.
Along with nursing, Kay enjoyed working in her yard, gardening,
fishing, golfing, bowling and arrowhead hunting. After her retirement, she was able to enjoy these
and many other activities.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Walter Hancey and Dean Elgin
Hancey; daughter, Denise Hancey Dalton; and five grandchildren, Brock Dalton, Chadrick Hancey,
Chance Thomas, Kylie Hancey and Brogan Scalise. Preceded in death by her mother and father, Richard
Vernon McBride (husband); Joyce Harbertson Adams Snowball (sister), Scott Vaughn Hancey (son), and
Teryle Lee Adams (nephew).
Funeral services were held Friday, November 21, 2008 at Myers
Mortuary in Ogden. Interment in Ogden City Cemetery.
