OGDEN - Greg Jones, 63, died January 12, 2011 in Ogden after
a three-year battle with cancer.
Greg was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on January 30,
1947 to Raymond Henry Jones and Trilva Daniels Jones. They moved to Ogden when he was one year old.
He attended Ogden City schools, graduating from Ben Lomond High School in 1965. He attended
University of Utah and Weber State University.
Greg worked for the railroads in Ogden and Denver. After moving
back to Ogden, he returned to school receiving his electrician's license and later his Master
Electrician license. He worked as a commercial electrician until his retirement. He married
Kathleen Pierce with whom he had his daughter Casey. They later divorced. He married Linda
Bramwell. Their marriage lasted 26 years and they remained good friends after their
divorce.
Greg was a tremendously loyal, dedicated and influential
member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He received his 25-year sobriety coin in July. He served as
treasurer for the district for many years as well as a motivational speaker around the region for
the past 25 years. He has attended many AA conferences around the country. Greg loved the game of
golf, never letting the weather get in his way. He golfed year round every chance he had. Last
summer he attended The Masters in Augusta, Georgia. He enjoyed traveling. Recently he traveled to
Europe, Washington State, to visit his daughter, Oregon, Palm Springs, Las Vegas and was planning a
trip to Hawaii.
Greg is survived by his daughter Casey Hillyer (Mike) and
their children Jake and Emily. He is also survived by two sisters, Janet (Benny) Baggs and Nadine
(Chris) Jensen of Ogden, nieces and nephews, and his dear friend Annie Herman. He was preceded in
death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January
22, 2011 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, with visitation held an hour prior to the
service. Cremation under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
