January 11, 1947 to December 29, 2009

 
OGDEN – After a valiant fight against Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, David Mathew Candia passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at his parents’ home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 11, 1947 to Demetrio and Sofia Fraga Candia in Ogden, Utah. 

Dave had tremendous love for his friends and family. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and was very supporting and encouraging to his children. Dave was an avid Raiders fan and enjoyed watching sports with his father. He also loved watching movies and hanging out with friends. Dave was a very talented cook and loved sharing his food with everyone who surrounded him. He was very gifted at making people laugh and smile in any situation. 

Dave is survived by his parents, his son Micky (Lisa) Candia, three daughters, Britny (Dominic) Melendrez, Teira Candia, Jenna Candia, two granddaughters, Lelani Nicole Candia and Isabel Mia Melendrez, two brothers, Stephen (Sherry) Candia, Anthony (Karlene) Candia, one sister, Marisa (Daniel) Orosco, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa, and his closest friend and brother, Ron. 

A Memorial Mass was held at St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday December 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow, under the direction of Aaron’s Mortuary & Crematory. The family would like to thank the Huntsman Cancer Center, the U of U Medical Center and Vistacare Hospice staff for their exceptional care and support. A special thanks to his friend, Wilma, for being at his side daily until his hospitalization.
