Kay  McNeely Fortney Obituary

 

Kay L. Fortney, 76 years old, of Scappoose, Oregon, passed peacefully away at home on November 10, 2023.
Kay was born on December 7, 1946, in Ogden, Utah  to her parents Arthur and Anna McNeely, where she spent the first 22 years of life.
Kay graduated from high school before attending cosmetology school in 1975. She went on to have a successful career as a beautician in Everett, Washington , where she met her husband, John. The family moved to Denver, Colorado , before finally settling in Scappoose, Oregon in July of 1977.
Kay was very involved with her community, serving as a Cub Scout den mother for 7 years, as well as youth bowling coach and director for 20 years. Kay was inducted into the St. Helens USBC Hall of Fame in 2015. Kay was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a member of the Moose and Elks lodges. She also enjoyed crocheting and spending as much time with her grandchildren as possible during her free time.
Kay is survived by her husband John W. Fortney of Scappoose; her sons John M. Fortney (Trish) of St. Helens; Paul B. Fortney (Kim) of Scappoose; grandsons Colton C.C. Fortney of Beaverton and Owen J.P. Fortney of Salem; and her brother Doug McNeely of Ogden, Utah . She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Anna McNeely and her sister Judy Braegger.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 12/9/23 from 12 to 4pm at the St. Helens Moose Lodge on 57317 Old Portland Rd, Warren, OR 97053.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Moose Lodge.
