James Curtis Poorman

January 3, 1947~August 31, 2024 (age 77)

James Curtis Poorman, fondly known as James, was a beacon of light in a sometimes-dark world. Born in Ogden, UT, USA, on January 3, 1947, his journey of 77 years concluded in the same place, Ogden, on August 31, 2024. His life, a testament to resilience and a love for knowledge, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

James's character was a blend of perseverance, humor, and wisdom. As Albert Einstein once said, "The only source of knowledge is experience." James, throughout his life, embodied this truth. He spent a significant portion of his life working in computer programming and providing technical support. His expertise in the realm of technology was unmatchable, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone struggling with the complexity of modern gadgets. Despite his retirement, he remained a go-to person for tech advice within his circle, a role he cherished and dutifully fulfilled.

In personal life, James was known for his quick wit and easy-going nature. He was someone who could find humor even in the most mundane situations, making him a joy to be around. As Mark Twain rightly said, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." James was a prime example of this, always ready to explore new paths and seize the opportunities life offered.

James is survived by his daughters Keri (Tyler) Fiore and Kristi (Rick) Arko; grandchildren Bryce and Shayne; great grandchildren Margot, Ezra and Aleeza; brother, Kent Poorman; sister, Carole Burgin. His legacy is also carried forward by countless friends and former colleagues who were touched by his kindness and benefited from his wisdom. He was preceded in death by his father, James Poorman, and his mother, Erma Bateman.

With his departure, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, learning, and love. We encourage all who knew him to commemorate James's life by sharing their memories, stories, and pictures on his memorial page at www.myers-mortuary.com. For in celebrating his life and remembering his journey, we ensure that James Poorman, our beloved friend, brother, and mentor, continues to live on in our hearts.
