I worked mainly in the computer field
for the IRS for 36 years. In 1970 I transferred from Ogden to Washington,
DC, then on to Kansas City, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Annapolis and finally
ended up back in Ogden (2002). My wife – and best friend – Dianne who also
had great positions within IRS, had an opportunity to take an “early out”
retirement in September, 2002. I retired in January, 2003 as the Director of
the IRS’s Information Systems Customer Support. We then sold our house, gave
most of our possessions to the kids or charity, spent three months traveling
in England, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand and then bought a new 40’
motor home. We are now living / traveling full time in our home on wheels.
Between our business travels and our motor home journey, we have been in 49
states – just got to get to North Dakota.
This summer, we will travel
across Canada and eventually follow the fall colors down the East Coast. We
love our nomadic lifestyle although we do get back to Ogden a couple of
times a year to get a kids and grandkids “fix”. Our hobbies include hiking,
riding bicycles, skiing, snowshoeing, sight seeing and just about anything
to do with the great outdoors. We are amazed almost every day with some new
sight, sound or adventure.
Since we had already booked an Alaskan Cruise during the 40th Reunion time
period, we are really sorry we will not make the festivities.
